What Lumijo is
Lumijo is a personal learning tool powered by AI. It helps children practice and study by generating exercises, explanations, flashcards, quizzes, and interactive tutoring based on content the user provides, typically by photographing or importing schoolwork. Features include:
- AI tutoring — interactive, subject-adapted conversations that guide the child through their homework using the Socratic method
- Quizzes — multiple-choice questions generated from homework content
- Fill-in-the-blank exercises — practice exercises with missing words
- Flashcards — study cards for memorisation
- Summary writing — guided writing prompts based on the homework
- Simplified explanations — homework explained in simple language
- Focus timer — a distraction-free study timer (works fully offline)

Eligibility and accounts
Lumijo is designed for children aged 5 to 18. A parent or legal guardian ("Parent") must create the account and is responsible for all activity under it. Children use the app through child profiles managed by the Parent.
How accounts work
Parents sign in using Apple Sign-in or Google Sign-in. No email or password accounts are available. Children access the app using a 6-digit pairing code generated by the Parent. This code creates a supervised session linked to the Parent's account. Children do not need their own email address or password. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Children's data
Lumijo is designed with children's privacy as a priority. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service. Parents have full control over their children's accounts and can delete them at any time. See Section 8 (Privacy) and our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle children's data.

Your content and responsibilities
When you photograph, import, or upload schoolwork or other material ("User Content"), you are responsible for ensuring that your use of that material with Lumijo is lawful. You retain all rights to your User Content. By using Lumijo, you grant Vitgranen a limited, temporary licence to process your User Content solely for the purpose of generating study exercises.
How we process your content
Lumijo has two modes for importing homework. In both cases, the original photo or document is never stored on Vitgranen's servers and is never transmitted to any external service. Camera mode: you photograph homework, text is extracted on-device using OCR, the photo is discarded immediately after extraction. PDF import mode: you import a PDF, text is extracted entirely on-device, and the original PDF is discarded after extraction. In both cases, extracted text is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic Claude) via a secure server-side proxy to generate exercises.
AI tutoring
When your child uses the interactive tutoring feature, the conversation history (limited to the most recent messages) is sent to Anthropic Claude to generate each response. Conversations are ephemeral — they exist only in the app's memory during the session and are not stored on Vitgranen's servers.
What is stored where
We distinguish between data stored on your device and data stored on our servers:
- On your device only: original photos (discarded immediately after text extraction), imported PDFs (discarded after text extraction), extracted OCR text, generated exercises, tutoring conversations
- On our servers (Supabase, EU): assignment metadata, exercise results, study session metadata, learning progress, account information, credit transactions
- Our server-side proxy acts as a pass-through for AI requests — content is not logged, stored, or retained beyond the duration of the request
- Imported documents are limited to 10 pages per upload
Your responsibility for uploaded material
You agree that:
- You will use Lumijo for personal learning only, not for commercial purposes or systematic reproduction of third-party material
- You will not use Lumijo to create, distribute, or publish material that infringes on the intellectual property rights of any third party
- You are solely responsible for the content you upload and for ensuring that your use complies with applicable copyright and intellectual property laws
Takedown and enforcement
If a rights holder notifies us that Lumijo is being used in a manner that infringes their intellectual property, we reserve the right to investigate and, if warranted, suspend or terminate the relevant account. Vitgranen does not monitor, review, or verify the content users upload. We rely on users to act in accordance with these Terms. AI-generated content
Exercises, explanations, flashcards, quizzes, and tutoring responses are produced by Anthropic's Claude AI models and are intended as study aids. They may contain errors or inaccuracies. Lumijo does not guarantee the correctness, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated content. Anthropic does not use data submitted via its API to train its models. You are free to use AI-generated exercises for your personal learning. Vitgranen does not claim ownership of the exercises generated for you.

Credits and payments
Lumijo uses a credit-based system. Credits are consumed when generating exercises, tutoring responses, or importing homework via the AI. Credit costs per action are displayed in the app.
How payments work
Credits are purchased through Apple In-App Purchases. Payment processing is handled by Apple. Vitgranen never receives or stores your payment card details. Purchase events are processed by RevenueCat, a third-party service that validates transactions. RevenueCat receives transaction identifiers but not your payment card details.
Credit terms
Credits are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or Apple's refund policies. Credit balances are tied to your account and cannot be transferred. We reserve the right to adjust credit pricing and consumption rates — any changes apply to future purchases only. When your credit balance reaches zero, we may send a notification email to the Parent's registered email address.

Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Lumijo for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with Lumijo
- Circumvent any rate limits, security measures, or access controls
- Resell, sublicence, or commercially exploit Lumijo or its outputs
Violation of these rules may result in suspension or termination of your account.

Third-party services
Lumijo relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each service receives only the data necessary for its function:

Privacy
Your privacy matters to us. Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Key principles:
- No chat storage — tutoring conversations are ephemeral and never stored on our servers
- No image storage — photos are processed on-device and never transmitted
- Minimal data collection — we store only what is needed to provide the service
- Parental control — parents manage all child accounts and can delete them at any time
- Transactional emails only — no marketing emails
- Children's privacy — child accounts do not require or store email addresses

Intellectual property
The Lumijo app, website, brand, design, and underlying technology are the property of Vitgranen AB and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or proprietary technology.

Availability and changes
We aim to keep Lumijo available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest version. Continued use of Lumijo after changes constitutes acceptance. For material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email.

Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lumijo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Vitgranen is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Vitgranen's total liability is limited to the amount you have paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Termination and account deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the app. Upon deletion, all server-side data is permanently removed, including child profiles, metadata, scores, progress, credits, and transaction history. All locally stored data is also deleted. Deletion is irreversible and unused credits are forfeited. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.

Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. Any disputes shall be resolved by the courts of Sweden.
If you are a consumer resident in Sweden, you may also refer complaints to Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN) at arn.se.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you may submit complaints to the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
